The Li'Doheny Outside Regatta

A premium was put on keeping your boat footing to power through the choppy waters just outside the Dana Point harbor in the light to medium winds. The team of John Papadopoulos and Dan Rossen (Newport Beach, CA) had that formula reasonably figured out on Saturday (all bullets) to take a strong lead. However Papadopoulos, an admitted flat water sailor - and a pincher - lost his way in the lighter winds on Sunday as he struggled to finishes of 2, 1, and 4 - just holding on to the overall lead over second place finisher Greg Rodgers - who had speed to spare but too often gave up race winning opportunities through tactical blunders. But as they say, a win is a win is a win and Papadopoulos/Rossen not only won the overall series but took home the coveted "Most 1st Place Finishes" trophy as well.
