Notice of Race

28th Annual Harry Wood Regatta

Balboa Yacht Club

Saturday March 8, 1997

 

 

1. RULES:

This regatta will be governed by the 1993-96 International Yacht Racing Rules, the prescriptions of US Sailing, Lido 14 Class Association Rules, Harry Wood Regatta Sailing Instructions, written announcements posted on bulletin board on BYC Flag Deck.

   

2. DIVISIONS:

Lido 14 Grand Masters (skipper’s age 50 or over), Lido 14 A & B.

   

3. ELIGIBILITY:

This regatta is open to all members of a recognized U.S. Sailing organization that are also Junior or Senior Members of the Lido 14 Class Association or are non-Lido 14 Class Association members that have been waived by an officer of Lido 14 Fleet 1 - Newport Harbor.

   

4. LOCATION:

Registration on the day of the regatta, the Skippers Meeting, protest related events, and trophy presentation will be held at Balboa Yacht Club (BYC); located at 1801 Bayside Drive, Corona Del Mar, CA (714) 673-3515

 

Races, unless otherwise noted, will be held in the main turning basin of Newport Harbor, north of Newport Harbor Yacht Club.

   

5. SCHEDULE:

Five (5) races are scheduled with a 20 minute break after the second race. This regatta will be considered complete if only three (3) races are run.

   
 

1015 hours: Skippers Meeting - BYC Flag Deck, next to flag pole

 

1150 hours: First Warning

 

As Soon As Possible: Trophy Presentation - BYC Sun Deck

   
 

Separate starts provided for each division with three (3) or more competitors.

   

6. REGISTRATION

Competitors must register by 1015 hours at BYC Front Office on the day of the regatta. Entries sent by mail must be received by BYC no later than March 7 (Friday). Sailing Instructions and course charts will be available the day of the regatta.

     

7. ENTRY:

Entry Fee: $8.00.

8. FACILITIES:

The hospitality of BYC and its facilities, except on site automobile parking, are extended to all competitors. Each boat must have its own internal sling for use with the dinghy hoist (South Boat Yard Hoist).

Food will be available in the BYC bar after the racing.

   

9. TROPHIES:

Grand Masters Division: Perpetual Trophy for first in division, Skipper and Crew trophies for the first three yachts in the division;

A Division: Perpetual Trophy for first in division and Skipper and Crew trophies for the first three yachts in the division;

B Division: Skipper and Crew trophies for the first three yachts in the division.
