There are a few items I want to bring to your attention.

First, a list of upcoming events (in chronological order).

The W.D. Schock Memorial Regatta is this weekend (March 4 and 5) at Newport

Harbor YC.  If you intend to participate but haven't registered, you should

plan on doing so at the event as mail-in entries probably won't make it in

time.  You can get a web copy of the Notice of Race from NHYC's web page

(www.nhyc.org by clicking on the "W.D. Schock Memorial Regatta" hyperlink

on their front page.  The NHYC contact is Mette Segerblom.  She can be

reached at (949) 673-7730 or via email at racing@nhyc.org.

The Harry Wood Regatta, sponsored by Balboa Yacht Club and Fleet 1 - Newport

Harbor, will be held March 26th.  NOR and Entry forms are currently available

on the Lido 14 web page (www.lido14.org) to the events calendar and click on

the "N" and "E" in the NOR column)

The 2000 Western Regional Championships will be held at the Seattle YC

Shilshole facility on Puget Sound.  This event is in conjunction with the

Seattle YC S.O.C.K.S. regatta.  The dates are May 20th and 21st with a clinic

likely to be held on the 19th.  Stephen Orsini, of Fleet 78, is overseeing

the Western Regionals.  You can reach him at sorsini@ncia.com or at

(360) 293-1141.  Notice of Race and Entry forms will be posted on the web page

as they become available.  Note that the 1999 Class Champion and Western

Regional Champion team of John Papadopoulos and Stephanie Faillers will attend

this event!

W.D. Schock and Roger Patterson recently announced the 2000 Lido 14 Skinner

Lake Recreational Outing, to be held on Skinner Lake (near Temecula,

California) on June 24th and 25th.  Contact Roger Patterson (848) 270-0177

or via email at lidopatt@inteworld.net to get a copy of the Notice of Race.

The Lido 14 Class Championships are scheduled for July 23rd through the 26th

on Big Bear Lake in the town of Big Bear Lake, California.  Full Notice of

Race and Entry information will be published in the upcoming edition of the

BowWave.  The Lido 14 Web Page will have similar materials available too in

late March.

Briefly, the schedule calls for registration and practice racing on Sunday

the 23rd, the Qualifier Series on the 24th (with the Annual Meeting in the

evening), and the 25th and 26th set aside for the Championship Series.

The first edition of the Santa Margarita Lake Regatta, sponsored by Fleet

59 - Morro Bay, on, you guessed it, Santa Margarita Lake was announced

recently.  It will be held over the weekend of September 30/October 1st.

Please contact Kit Lockwood if you have any questions.  She can be emailed

at dlockwoo@fix.net

The San Francisco Yacht Club (host of the 1999 Lido 14 Western Regional

Championships) will be holding another Schock Regatta (not to be confused

with the W.D. Schock Memorial Regatta) over the weekend of October 7th/8th.

Tom Jenkins, of the Morro Bay fleet, is looking to get a repeat visit by the

Lido 14 class.  As we get closer to this event, further information will be

posted.

The Mission Bay Fall Invitational (hosted by Mission Bay YC) has been

scheduled for October 7th/8th)

In other news, the Sobstad sail loft in San Diego, famous for past and

present Lido 14 sailors Craig Leweck and George Szabo, respectively, has

undergone an important change that we, at the Class Association, felt should

be noted to the Association membership.  Here is a message from George:

Dear Lido Sailors,

To improve service to our customers, our loft in San Diego has joined the

Quantum Sail Design Group. We will now be known as Quantum San Diego. The

fast sail designs, the great people and the excellent service will remain

the same. The biggest changes will be the new green stitching, the gray

bags, and the sail logos will now say Quantum. For more information on the

change you can go to:  <http://www.quantumsails.com/lido14/newname.htm>

Lastly, I will be away for much of March so Classified Ad updates and web

page updates may slow or cease briefly.  In addition, the server that the

Lido 14 web page is hosted on is moving so some downtime may be

experienced.

As always, we hope to see you on the water and please don't hesitate to

contribute material and comments to me, your faithful (and only) Lido 14

WebMaster.

Sincerley,

John Papadopoulos
