Subject: Lido 14 Class Association Bulletin #3

Dear Lido 14 Class Association Member,

This bulletin covers upcoming events and some important notices for members

and fleets.

Please share this bulletin with your fleet members that are not on the

Internet.

**** The 2000 Sail Bear Charity Regatta, originally scheduled for Sept. 9 &

10, has been cancelled.  Click here

<http://lido14.org.cnchost.com/2000SailBearcancellationnotice.htm> for

further details.

**** Alamitos Bay YC will be hosting its annual Labor Day Regatta on

September 2 & 3.  Regatta registration fee is $15.  Discounts apply if you

pre-register in time.  ABYC will host a luau dinner featuring live

entertainment on Saturday.  The luau is priced at $10/person if paid in

advance, $12/person the day of.  See www.abyc.org for more information.

**** Balboa YC will be hosting the Ullman B Regatta/Clinic on September 9th.

This is a hybrid clinic/regatta event that is geared to educating "B"

sailors.  This year 1999 Class Champion John Papadopoulos will be conducting

a variety of lecture sessions intermixed with racing sessions off the BYC

docks (with critiques).  Entry fee is $10.  See the invitation on the Lido

14 Web page by clicking on

<http://lido14.org.cnchost.com/2000UllmanBInvite.htm>

**** Fleet 59 - Morro will be hosting an informal invitational regatta on

Santa Margarita Lake over the September 30/October 1st weekend.  For more

information, refer to the invitation on the Lido 14 web page by clicking on

<http://lido14.org.cnchost.com/2000SantaMargaritaInvite.htm>

**** Mission Bay YC will be hosting their annual Fall Invitational over the

October 7 & 8 weekend.  For further details, contact Roger Patterson at

(lidopatt@inetworld.net).

**** San Francisco YC will be hosting the 2nd annual Schock Regatta on the

October 7 and 8 weekend.  On Friday the 6th, there will be informal

"practice" races, a Lido 14 clinic by John Papadopoulos, and

beer/wine/nachos.  Friday evening the Lido 14 Governing Board will hold

their fall meeting at SFYC.  All members are welcome to attend the meeting.

Note that the Blue Angels will be putting on an air show overhead on

Saturday and Sunday.  So you get to race and a great show at the same time!

Keep a lookout at the SFYC web page (www.sfyc.org)) for Notice of Race and

Entry Forms.  P.S. The racing is on Richardson Bay, which is ideal for Lido

14's.

**** The 2001 Senior Class Championships will be held July 16th, 17th, and

18th at Huntington Lake, CA.  Fleet 1 - Newport Harbor will be hosting the

event.  Further details on lodging, etc. will be published in the coming

months.  If you have any questions, please forward them to John Papadopoulos

at jakp@mindspring.com

**** The Lido 14 Class Association is seeking bids for the 2001 Western

Regional Championships (WRC).  The WRC is intended to counterbalance the Sr.

Class Championships so that Class members that cannot attend the Class

Championships due to distance and time constraints can attend a more "local"

event with high caliber sailing.  Given that the 2001 Class Championship

Regatta is somewhat centerally located amongst the West Coast Lido 14

fleets, bids venues other than Central California are encouraged.  Bids

should include: proposed dates, brief description of the racing venue,

lodging, meals, boat storage, probable weather, etc.  Note that it is

appropriate to host the WRC in conjunction with an established regatta, as

was the case in the 1999 and 2000 running of the event.  Please forward all

WRC bids to Lido 14 Class Vice President at the Lido 14 P.O. box address

listed above.

**** Pauline Colombo has retired as the BowWave editor.  The Class

Association is making alternate arrangements to publish the BowWave.  The

October BowWave remains on schedule.  For the time being, please submit all

articles to John Papadopoulos.  Reports on fleet activity, tall tales, good

photographs, etc. are desired.  If possible, please submit the text of your

articles via email to jakp@mindspring.com and your photographs by US mail

to:

John Papadopoulos

20242 Spruce Avenue

Newport Beach, CA 92660

The submission deadline for the October issue is September 10th.

**** Class Association Executive Secretary Sharon Young has a new email

address, effective immediately.  You can now reach her at

STENO2@email.msn.com

**** A number of fleets have not submitted dues for the 2000/2001 membership

year which began at the conclusion of the Class Championships several weeks

ago.  Please make a point of forwarding dues along with information on each

member (name, spouse name, street address, phone #, email address, boat

number, membership type) to the Lido 14 International Class Association P.O.

Box.

Lido 14 International Class Association

P.O. Box 1252

Newport Beach, CA 92663

In addition, please report your 2000/2001 fleet officers and your 2000 Fleet

Champion.

We encourage you to submit your fleet member information in electronic

format to Sharon Young at her email address STENO2@email.msn.com.  If you

can, send your roster in a Microsoft Word or Excel document attached to your

email.  If you cannot support those document types, plain text separated by

commas or tabs is fine too.

Sincerely,

John Papadopoulos

2000/2001 Lido 14 Class President
