Proforma Notice of Race 

Port Hadlock Yacht Club Invites 

Current District VI Members of Lido 14 International Class Association to the 

2001 District VI Championships, 

hosted by Port Hadlock Yacht Club September 15 & 16, 2001. 

District Fleets include: 

Fleet 25 (Portland, Oregon)
Fleet 36 (Rogue Valley, Oregon)
Fleet 77 (North Olympic , WA)
Fleet 78 (Anacortes, WA)
Fleet 80 (Seattle, WA)
Fleet 81 (Fern Ridge, OR) 

The races will be sailed on the PHYC dinghy race course in Lower Port Hadlock Bay five miles south of Port Townsend, WA on Port Townsend Bay. A public launch ramp is adjacent to the course and the Old Alcohol Plant Marina and Resort, where the PHYC Room will be Race Headquarters (SW corner of resort building).

Races will be governed by the Racing Rules Of Sailing 2001- 2004 and by special prescriptions which may be announced by PHYC. Included will be the ABSOLUTE requirement that when on the water all skippers and crews wear approved life jackets. 

Up to seven races are planned – four on Saturday afternoon September 15 and three on Sunday morning September 16. If five or more races are completed one race may be discarded for scoring purposes. Scores for the last race may not be discarded; a race disqualified under rule 42.1 or 42.2 may not be discarded.

Boats and crews will compete in either the Gold or Silver Fleets. Gold Fleet be composed of boats and crews which typically finish in the upper half of their respective Fleets. Identical skipper and crew trophies will be awarded to the first three finishers in each Fleet. Awards will be made immediately following the final race of the series at Race Headquarters.

Registration is $20 per boat and is payable during registration between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. September 15. Coffee and donuts will be available during registration in the PHYC Room SW corner of Alcohol Plant Marina Resort. Skipper’s meeting will be held in or adjacent to the PHYC Room at 11 a.m. Weather and registration conditions permitting, the first race will start at 1 p.m. Saturday. The first race Sunday will start at 10 a.m. Wine, beer and non-alcoholic drinks will be available following the races at the PHYC Room.

There will be a no-host gathering and pizza meal at Ferino’s in nearby Port Hadlock at approximately 7 p.m. Saturday.

We beg that you e-mail your “intent to compete” NOW! This will help our small staff do whatever is needed to make your visit enjoyable. By next week you will hear back with a copy of the Sailing Instructions, up-dated information and the attendance expected, based on your response to this Notice of Race. When you e-mail let us know if you prefer on-land or slip moorage Saturday night.
