Dear Lido 14 Assn. Member,
Bulletin #7 contains several important notices about the W.D. Schock Memorial
Regatta this March 3rd and 4th.
The following memo was issued by W.D. Schock concerning boat launching at
the W.D. Schock Memorial Regatta.
"Due to the construction work being done to the boat yard at the Newport
Harbor Yacht Club launching for Lido 14's requiring a hoist will be done at
the Lido Island boat garden at the corner of Via Genoa and Via Lido Soud on
Lido Island.
On behalf of the Newport Harbor Yacht Club I apologize for the
inconvenience but assure you that it will in no way affect the race
management or social activities.
Thanks and we're all looking forward to seeing you at the regatta.

The Assn. recommends that you complete your registration/check in at
Newport Harbor Yacht club first, install hull numbers (if provided), etc.
and then proceed to Lido Island to launch your boat (a map will be provided at
NHYC) prior to the competitors meeting.
The competitors meeting for inside (i.e. dinghy) courses is scheduled
for 1100 hours on Saturday, the first warning is scheduled for 1200
hours (noon).
The Lido Island launching facility is about 7 minutes away by car and is
about 10 to 15 minutes away by sail. Parking at the facility is on-street. If
you have any questions about the Lido Island facility, contact Bob Yates at
BobYates2@earthlink.net or (949) 673-3557.
The Assn. is working with W.D. Schock Memorial staff to provide shore boat
transportation between Lido Island and Newport Harbor YC. We are also trying to
have an additional competitors meeting on Lido Island to alleviate the rush to
get into the water in order to get to the regularly scheduled meeting at NHYC
and then get back to Lido Island. Please stay tuned for further details on
these matters.
Due to the change in launching arrangements, the Lido 14 clinic scheduled for
Friday March 2nd at Newport Harbor YC will be on shore (i.e. "dry").
The clinic is scheduled for 2:00 P.M. on Friday and will cover a wide
range of topics - rigging, tuning, boat handling, tactics, etc. The precise
location of the clinic (i.e. outside the club v.s. inside the club) will depend
on turnout and weather conditions.
Lastly, remember to have your entry postmarked before February 25th to avoid
paying the late registration fee. Entry forms are available on the Newport
Harbor YC (www.nhyc.org) and Lido 14 Class Assn. web pages (www.lido14.org)
Sincerely,
John Papadopoulos
