The following is provided by provided by the Lido 14 class to help you plan your stay at Huntington Lake.

Lodging (Cabins and Condominiums)

Overview information on the Huntington Lake area can be found on the web at www.huntingtonlake.com.

The primary lodging locations for competitors and their guests will be the Lakeshore Resort (the location of the Annual Meeting and the Awards Banquet dinner), Cedar Crest, and the Huntington Condos. Other options exist but they are increasingly distant from the center of activities.

Lakeshore Resort (Cabins and RV Park)

Cabins are rustic – meaning they are simple and functional and “cozy”. Most are knotty pine. The "housekeeping" cabins have kitchens, with eating and cooking utensils, stove, refrigerator, sink/cupboard unit, table, and chairs. Heating and cooking by propane gas. All 27 units have private both rooms with showers. Units come in a range of bed and kitchen combinations.

The RV park has full hookups and showers. Laundry facilities. The RV park is a long uphill walk home from the shoreline while the cabins are closest to race headquarters and walking distance to restaurant, bar, store, gas, post office, launch ramp, etc. There is no lake view from cabins or RV park.

Condos range from 2 bedroom/2 bath to 3 bedroom+1 loft/3 bathroom condominiums sleeping from 4 to 8 people. Advance reservations are highly recommended. Be sure to inquire about their policies on stocking bedding, paper products, soap products, etc. Minimum rental of 3 nights. Cleaning fees and deposits apply.

Cedar Crest

Located 10-15 minute drive (from Lakeshore Resort) West along the lake’s northern shoreline. A variety of cabins are offered – the largest is capable of holding nine people. There is a restaurant and store at Cedar Crest too.

Lodging (Camping)

Huntington Lake is surrounded by a number of U.S Forest Service campgrounds, most of which are on or very close to the shoreline. To make reservations for any of the area campgrounds, contact National Recreation Reservations System (NRRS) via the Web 24 at www.reserveusa.com or via telephone at (877) 444-6777 during business hours. NRRS accepts credit cards.

A majority of the campsites are in a reservation pool managed by National Recreation Reservations System. When you make a reservation, you are only insuring that you will get a site of a certain size in a certain campground. Specific sites cannot be reserved.

All campers must check in with the Forest Service office at Huntington Lake to get their specific site assignment. The same office offers the remainder campsites not in the reservation pool so there is a slight chance that you can get site the day you show up.

Of course, it is advisable that you have reservations prior to your arrival.

The Forest Service office is located to the junction of highway 168 (the road from Fresno to Huntington Lake) and the road to Florence and Edison lakes (see the Area Map) near the headwaters of the lake.

Area campgrounds include:

College and Deer Creek are on the water front and are walking distance to all the facilities you will need for your stay (launch ramp, race headquarters, groceries, etc.). These are the most sought after campgrounds and as such, are usually completely reserved many months in advance. Give them a try just in case.

Rancheria and Billy Creek are 5 to 10 minutes of driving time away (in opposite directions) from the epicenter of activities.

Catavee and Kinnikinnick are a bit further away (i.e. a few hundred additional yards) from most activities but still within walking distance for most people.

All the campgrounds are fairly equal as far as facilities go. Most, if not all, have running water and flush toilets. None have showers.

Lakeshore Resort’s shower facilities are usually available to campers at for a small charge. Showers are to be paid for at the market at Lakeshore Resort.
