2003 Lido 14 Fleet 1 Championships

Ten boats turned out for the 2003 running of the local fleet championships. Current Class Champions Mark Gaudio and John Papadopoulos won the regatta from defending Fleet 1 champions Kurt & Anne Wiese. The regatta was a five race series held in the main basin of Newport Harbor using windward leeward courses.
Racing was followed by a dinner and awards presentation at BCYC.
Trophies were awarded to the top three teams plus the top performing “B” ranking team of Stephen Mueller & Iris Strang.
A special non-performance prize was awarded to the team with the highest skipper/crew mass - which turned out to be Randy & Pete who, unfortunately, suffered a broken tiller in the fifth and final race. Keep up the hard work guys and enjoy the libations!
