As temperatures drop, many sailors feel the need to follow the heat south and perhaps no better way to do that is to join in the annual Baja Ha Ha cruisers rally. Over 180 entrants this year - all dedicated to the pursuit of happiness while cruising down the coast of Baja Mexico to Cabo San Lucas! Some are using this cruise as a starting point to longer journeys, others will pack up and return to Southern California sooner.
This year there are at least a couple of Lido 14 sailors taking part. Most notably is John Fradkin (Lido 14 Fleet 1) aboard "Deerfoot". Also having fun in the sun is Iris Strang, a member of Balboa YC that has crewed for a number of Lido 14 racers over the years. Iris and her husband Bob are sailing on Sky, a Hylas 49.
Lido 14 sailors Stephanie Faillers and John Papadopoulos, though not sailing in the event, have family that are - and they helped send them off to a good start by taking part in the send off Halloween costume party in San Diego.
The rally started on Monday October 26th and will continue thru November 8th with several mandatory stopovers along the way.
