NOTICE OF RACE
PLEASE NOTE: ABYC recommends that all competitors wear personal flotation
devices while on the water. The Y flag (personal flotation required) will be
flown at all regattas from October 15 through April 14, and it may be flown
at other regattas.
RULES: The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing
Rules of Sailing (RRS). The timing sequence of rule 26 will be changed; the
changes will appear in the sailing instructions. The organizing authority is
Alamitos Bay Yacht Club and Lido 14 Fleet Six.
ELIGIBILITY: The regatta is open to members of any Southern California Lido
14 fleet and unattached members of the Lido 14 Class Association residing in
Southern California. The regatta will be sailed in Lido 14s. Five (5) boats
are required to establish a class.
ENTRY FEE: The entry fee is US$30.00 per boat. Members of US SAILING may
take a $2 discount from the fee shown. Entries may be made in person or via
mail; NO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED BY PHONE, FAX, E-MAIL OR ONLINE. Entries
will close on Saturday at 1030. Entry applications are available at ABYC or
on the ABYC website, www.abyc.org.
SCHEDULE: Registration will open at 0900. A competitors' meeting will be
held on the ABYC patio at 1030. Five (5) races are scheduled; the first race
will start at 1200. A trophy presentation with complimentary hors d'oeuvres
will be held after racing on Saturday.
SAILING INSTRUCTIONS: Sailing instructions will be available at
Registration.
VENUE: Conditions permitting, the regatta will be sailed in the Long Beach
Outer Harbor inside the breakwater near the Belmont Veteran's Memorial Pier.
If conditions do not permit, the regatta will be sailed on Alamitos Bay.
ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT: Competitors shall bring wearable personal flotation
devices for both skipper and crew, a towline not less than two boat lengths'
long and two bailers or one bailer and a hand pump.
SCORING: When fewer than five (5) races are completed, a boat’s score will
be the total of her scores. One (1) race constitutes a series.
TROPHIES: Trophies will be awarded according to the following schedule: five
(5) boats = one (1) trophy; six (6) to eight (8) = two (2) trophies; nine
(9) to 11 = three (3); 12-14 = four (4); 15 or more = five (5).
ARBITRATION: All protests involving rules of Part 2 will first be submitted
to arbitration. The arbitration procedure will be posted on the official
regatta notice board as an addendum to the sailing instructions.
LAUNCHING: Two hoists (maximum capacity 5,000 lbs.) and a dinghy ramp are
available. Every boat using a hoist must have it’s
own INTERNAL sling.
PARKING AND STORAGE: Due to space limitations, parking on ABYC grounds is
restricted. Off-street parking is available across the street in municipal
lots. Participants should obtain parking passes from the ABYC office.
Participants may bring their boats into the ABYC yard on Friday between 0900
and 1700. Extended storage on a space-available basis may be requested IN
ADVANCE by contacting the ABYC office. NOTE: ABYC is closed on Monday and
Tuesday except for card-key access to the grounds.
HOSPITALITY: The hospitality of ABYC is extended to all participants. The
Galley will be open; breakfast will be served and bag lunches will be
available. A bar will be open after racing.
DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY: Competitors participate in this regatta entirely at
their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will
not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death
sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during or after the regatta.
